INTERVIEW FROM DATPIFF.COM!!! NEW 2009

So you are from the West Coast. In your opinion, what is the current state of West Coast Hip-Hop?
Well I feel like the West Coast is not getting the exposer that it deserves. We have a lot of really talented rappers on the coast that should be in the lime light, myself included. I believe it’s time for a change and let everyone know how we doing things on the west and through our style back into the mix.

We at datpiff.com have the opinion that Left Coast music will become major again this year, especially with the highly anticipated release of Dr. Dre's Detox album. Why has the West Coast been overlooked in the last couple of years?
I believe we’ve been overlooked because we haven’t gotten the play time that we needed on the radio, T.V., ECT. We just need to let people hear the music and the fans will come.

There are more rappers with gang affiliations, especially in the past couple of years. You are a member of the Hoover Criminal Gang. How has gang culture changed in recent years?
I feel like a lot of rappers now using gangs to get their street creed or get that gangster appeal. I mean everywhere you go, in just about every city there are gangs but I feel like nobody does it like the gangs in California. It’s something that’s been around 40 to 50 years and you really do take it to the heart. Rappers like lil Wayne, Jim Jones, and Young Jezzy who claim this or that and throw they flag up in the videos and when the mic’s off it’s nowhere to be seen. I only rap about the hood because I rap about what I know.

Your new mixtape is set to drop this summer. What is the title of the album and is there an exact release date for it?
The name of the new tape is called “Chapter 2: The Revolution” and it drops June 4th so cop it when I drop it.

What can Hip-Hop fans expect as far as guest features and production?
Oh, they’re in for a treat, they should expect features from some of the hottest underground rappers like Danger Rich, Jackboyz, Ya Boy, and some mainstream rappers too like Cassidy and Ludacris

I see you have a lot of dope collabos on the album including Ya Boy and JR Writter. How did these two collaborations come about?
My DJ “DJ Mel” was looking out for me and talking to a lot of rappers managers’ and indeed up getting me in touch with Ya Boy and we did a hot track called wut wut now, and later on I got a E-mail talking about doing a collabo with JR Writter,

Do you have a particular sound you look for when selecting beats and producers? Who would be your dream-team beat makers for your project?

Not really, if I like how the beat sounds then I’ll do a verse for it. As for the dream team. . . I would have Dr. Dre, Eminem, and Swizz beats.

I'm sure people are curious how you got your name? Any deeper meaning behind it?
O G Money? Well at first it was originally getting Money but I just abbreviated it to O G Money.

Give our datpiff.com reader a shout out and let them know some final words...
